Introduction to cable clamps

Cable clamps are specially designed fixing solutions that hold cables securely in place without damaging them. They are available in different materials and designs to meet all requirements. In industrial applications and on construction sites, these cable clamps are particularly important for protecting cables from mechanical loads and extreme environmental influences. Our range of clamps includes various cable clamps, which we would like to present here. The development started with classic pipe clamps. However, as these with pre-tension and gripped inner surface are not suitable for more sensitive lines such as hoses and cables, we have developed them further.

The STAUFF online shop now offers a wide range of clamps that are ideal for fastening cables. We present their various properties and advantages.

Our first choice: clamps from the standard series

STAUFF clamps from the standard series in accordance with DIN 3015 (Part 1) are the first choice for fastening cables. This is a long-established technology that has been developed for particularly challenging tube and hose fastening in mobile and industrial hydraulics. Clamps from the standard series cover an extensive diameter range from 3.2 mm without any gaps. By selecting the right clamps from the standard series, this range also optimally covers the fastening of cables.

If cables are also fastened with STAUFF clamps in applications in which they are already used for tube and hose fastening, this ensures standardised processes during installation, reduces the need to keep different types of clamps in stock and ensures a uniform and professional appearance of the system.

Choosing the right clamp body

For cable fastening, it is essential to select clamp bodies in the smooth version and without pre-tension so that the cable is not crushed during installation. Clamp bodies of this design have rounded edges so that cables are not peeled off or otherwise damaged during axial movement ("slipping" through the clamp), for example.

Preferably, plastic clamp bodies made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide should be used for cable fastening, as the black cable clamps generally have the best resistance to various environmental influences.

Fastening options for STAUFF cable clamps

Various fastening accessories are available for all clamps in the standard series. All clamp bodies mentioned are compatible with the extensive range of fastening accessories offered in the standard series. Cable clamps can also be installed without a weld plate and cover plate - unlike recommended in most applications for hydraulic pipe clamps. They are then bolted directly to the system using hexagon socket screws, for example, making them screw-on cable clamps. As an alternative to direct mounting, they can also be used with rail nuts and support rails. This combination allows several cable clamps to be fastened simultaneously to a mounting rail that is welded or screwed to the system. Subsequent positioning and the addition and removal of individual cables is possible at any time when using support rails.

Areas of application for STAUFF cable clamps

Cables are often routed using simple clamps or cable ties. At STAUFF, we believe that the biggest and best application for our cable clamps is where our components are used anyway: In mechanical and plant engineering, where pipe clamps, hose clamps and other components are already in use. Here it also makes sense to guide and fasten cables with our reinforced systems. Not only to create a uniform appearance, but also to install a simple, secure and flexible fastening. In this way, you and we can avoid cable clutter - as shown on the right.

Other cable clamps in our range

For applications where the classic cable clamp from the standard series is not sufficient, there are of course alternatives in our range. In addition to extensions and other versions of the standard series, there are also special clamps that have been developed for specific industries and applications. Clamp bodies with elastomer inserts are also part of the standard series. Here too, the clamping jaws are made of polypropylene or polyamide. In addition, there is the elastomer insert, which enables even gentler guidance of sensitive cables - such as hoses and cables.
